On Tuesday, December 24, 2024, the Minister of Agricultural Jihad held a meeting with media representatives at the head of the relevant ministry on the occasion of the 120th day of his activities, in which more than 50 journalists from the Iranian Broadcasting Corporation, national newspapers, news agencies, news sites, and specialized publications in the agricultural sector participated.
The Minister of Agricultural Jihad, pointing out that the media plays an important role in society and helps the country's managers to follow the right path more accurately through the free flow of information, transparency, and criticism, said: The criticism and role of the media should be welcomed. We need media criticism in the agricultural debate. The issue of promotion and information is important in this ministry, and we use the capacity of the media to convey the messages that are produced in the decision-making authorities to publish and disseminate them to the people.
The Minister of Agricultural Jihad continued: "In this short period after entering the ministry, we have identified issues and problems and pursued long-term, medium-term and short-term solutions based on upstream laws, especially the Seventh Planning Plan Law, and the demands of farmers and wheat growers from the government, and the facilities that had been cut off in the field of mechanization have been restored."
The Minister of Agricultural Jihad said in this meeting that the agricultural sector, as the country's food supplier, cannot be affected by power outages and energy shortages, because these problems cannot be compensated for in the future and sustainable energy must be provided to this sector immediately.
Continuing his speech, the Minister of Agricultural Jihad emphasized that the necessary resources will be provided and implemented to realize these programs, referring to the precise and detailed implementation of the Seventh Development Plans.
He added: "Some programs require financial resources that may not be realized in the first year, but the government is determined to achieve the greatest efficiency from the least resources by prioritizing."
The Minister of Agriculture Jihad also noted: The government's goal at the end of the presidential term is to reduce sugar imports to zero and reduce imports of tropical products such as bananas in the next four years.
120-day report on the ministry's activities
The Minister of Agriculture Jihad added: In line with these programs, a 120-day report on the ministry's activities has been presented, which includes measures and plans to resolve problems and obstacles in the agricultural sector.
He added: Facilities in the fields of mechanization, pricing, and production support policies have been seriously pursued, and in a short time, nearly 20 items of basic agricultural products have been priced.
In this meeting, he spoke about transparency and elimination of monopoly and corruption in relevant systems, the issue of production decline due to energy shortages in the agricultural sector that cannot be reversed in the next month or the next season, the country's actions in the field of FATF and its impact on international agriculture and the government's determination to implement international programs, the government's plan for self-sufficiency in rice and maintaining strategic reserves, the import of contaminated rice into the country, reducing dependence on meat imports and supporting domestic production, the 14th government's strict supervision of people's livelihoods, changes in foreign exchange policy aimed at supporting domestic production, supporting the private sector and domestic capabilities to achieve self-sufficiency in agricultural products, management changes and programs based on merit and capabilities, serious restrictions on water and a worrying ranking in soil erosion, emphasizing the health of Iran's agricultural products, the tasks of the Seventh Development Plan for the Ministry of Agricultural Jihad, the end of the cultivation pattern program, and the gap between the price of farm products and the market.
